My long and slow accumulating bet on the future is a tiny Canadian company that manufactures a device that lets heavy duty diesel engine trucks achieve performance parity with with no torque draw down. I won't bet on oil prices or nat gas prices b/c they have demand destruction and hedging buffers in their path.
I think the world's hedge against diesel volatility in the future will be the adoption of high pressure direct injection technology. I'm buying up small bags of $WPRT. This enables 95% nat gas consumption and 5% diesel consumption with no drawdown in performance capabilities. The technology has been developed over 30+ years. This can only be added in the manufacturing production line, not after market. They have ~300 patents and as well scar tissue which they're abandoning. This is a company going through a transformation and is lowly today but I do believe the adoption of high pressure direct injection which enables trucking CFOs to get long term fuel contracts on nat gas which they cannot do for diesel in the same way.
DYOR. Not financial advice. I'm slow to accumulate.
